2009 - David Solheim, University of Nebraska at Lincoln, College of Law

The Bennett G. Hornstein Memorial Scholarship was awarded to David Solheim for the 2009-2010 school year. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) College of Law.  Previously, Solheim graduated from UNL with major concentrations in economics and international studies, and a minor concentrations in history and political science.   

Solheim’s legal interests include Constitutional law, litigation and public interest law. He co-founded Nebraskans for Civic Reform, a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to advocacy for responsible election law reform. Solheim served as a research assistant for UNL’s Bureau for Business Research, was a public policy intern for Nebraska Renewable Energy Systems and an immigration policy intern at Nebraska Appleseed Center for Law in the Public Interest. Additionally, he was student body president at UNL and volunteered for many organizations and causes.

A member of numerous law organizations, Solheim was an “A” student and a member of Phi Beta Kappa.  He was a Truman Scholarship finalist and received a UNL Regents Law Scholarship.
